BRUNEL UNIVERSITY JITSU CLUB

About Jitsu

What is Jitsu?
Jitsu is a practical martial art based on unarmed self defence
Will I use any weapons?
You will learn to defend yourself from weapons like knives, broken bottles, chains, swords, baseball bats and even guns! Oh and not forgetting irritating men in nightclubs!
When do I start training?
You can come along any night and speak to one of our members.
For to date training times, click HERE
Will I get hurt?
You may get a few bruises from time to time but it's a small price to pay considering what might happen if you were attacked in the street.
Does size matter?
No! Jitsu uses the attackers momentum.
So the bigger they are the harder the fall.
What do I wear?
Tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt to begin with. If you enjoy it, then you can buy a Gi (or white pyjamas as some call them)
Will I meet lots of people?
Yes, not only in the brunel club either. We regularly have trips to other Jitsu clubs in the region. Also each year you get the chance to compete in 2 National Competitions where all the clubs around the country get together for Jitsu followed by beers (emphasis on beers!)
Does the club have an active Social Life?
Yes. You can often find us in the pubs around Uxbridge, Ealing .... Norfolk, Amsterdam, Prague, Brussels, Lille... We frequently arrange club weekends away which have nothing to do with Jitsu but everything to do with sampling local beers! This term we will be checking out the drinking holes in Dublin so watch this space for more info.
Club's favourite eateries?
Anywhere in Chinatown, McDonald's, Mongolian BBQs, Ben's house
Night outs?
The Comedy Store, Redbacks, Pubs and clubs, anywhere that allows us to party til dawn!!
How much is it?
Just £1.50 per session for students (plus £5.00 membership fee). The mat fees help to subsidise the various courses, competitions and socials over the year.
